Co-founder Alex Wagner, who started Monster Pizza in Taichung in 2011 with his partner Arwen Chen, says the idea behind the online store is simple.
“We want to create a community of like-minded people who are producing exotic foods in Taiwan."
It is not the pair’s first business venture. They have a Monster Pizza restaurant and a food factory.
“We started as a night market stall. I was making dough in the morning, teaching in the afternoon and evening, and then selling pizza at night.”
The business quickly expanded into full-time work for Arwen and Alex.
They later established a permanent location and a food factory in Changhua.

From Restaurant to Food Factory
The journey from restaurant to food factory began quite naturally.
It all started when a friend asked if we could supply frozen pizzas for his bar, 23 Bar, in Taipei. We were always happy to take on new challenges, so we said yes.
In the beginning, we made the pizzas in the small kitchen behind our restaurant and sent them north to Taipei.
As demand for our frozen pizzas continued to grow, Alex and Arwen realized it was time to expand. They converted a small warehouse into our very first pizza production line.
Soon after, we secured partnerships with supermarkets, restaurant chains, and convenience stores. As the business grew, Monster Pizza moved into a larger facility — and the frozen food journey truly began.
Today, in addition to frozen pizzas, we proudly produce our own Italian sausages, exclusive marinated chicken, and a variety of premium toppings.
We now produce an average of over 40,000 pizzas every month — and we believe this is only the beginning.
